When is the right time to book a builder final clean?
The optimal window is after scaffolding is down, after major trades are complete and before the painter returns for touch-ups. Booking before practical completion means brickwork is still at its optimal cleaning age (under 3 months from laying) and scaffolding or EWP access may still be available for second-storey elevations. Booking after practical completion can still deliver a good result but may require higher acid strength for older mortar smear.

What if the brick was cleaned late and the mortar is hard?
Mortar that has been on the brick for more than 3–6 months carbonates harder into the face and requires stronger acid or longer dwell time to shift. This increases the burn risk on cream brick and the cost of the clean. We assess the mortar age in photos and adjust the dilution accordingly, with a test panel on sensitive brick types before production work.
